Virtual Showroom

Virtual Showroom

Description

A virtual showroom that explores the evolving requirements of presenting products in digital spaces. The digital landscape—particularly social media—thrives on pushing the boundaries of what is considered ‘possible’ in the real world, creating a constant sense of wonder in the audience. Catering to this tendency, the virtual showroom was designed to occupy a space between the believable and the exaggerated.

[Notes]

This project centred around the question of which aspects of a real showroom should remain unchanged in a digital context, and which could be transformed into something more native to the digital landscape.

Early on, modularity emerged as a key consideration—allowing the space to accommodate different products and themes, something digital media is uniquely suited for. Nonetheless, the space still needs to remain recognisable as a showroom.

Consequently, lighting and colour themes—elements that are difficult to change in physical spaces but easy to adjust and even animate in virtual environments—appeared to be the obvious choice for experimentation.
