A looping music visualizer, combining hand-painted watercolor assets with 3D animation. This project explores how 2D and 3D techniques can be combined, resulting in a dynamic and textured visual experience.

Process

For this project, a looping 10-second visualiser was created to accompany a piece of music, blending 2D and 3D elements for a unique aesthetic. The process began with hand-painted watercolour assets, which were digitised and scattered over the surface of a virtual sphere within a 3D environment in Blender. Rotation a virtual camera around the sphere then creates a continuous looping motion. This animation was rendered and then brought into After Effects, where additional 2D animation was layered on top of the 3D base. This combination of techniques resulted in a seamless loop that merges painterly textures with dynamic spatial depth.
